Hello and welcome to updating your website content.

Now that you have your own website you need to know how to edit the content on the pages.

It's really quite simple and after you have done it a couple of times it gets easier.

If by chance you do mess up your site, just contact me and I will upload the last saved backup that I have on file for you.

Please remember to contact me after you have update your site so I can update your backup file.

First thing you need to do is login to your Host Monster account.:

The link below opens in a new window or tab so you can switch back and forth as you complete the steps.

Once you click on the link you will arrive at Host Monsters account manager login window.

It will look like the picture on the right.

You can click on the link below or the picture on the right to login now.

Note: Use the username and password that you received in an email from Host Monster after successfully setting up your hosting account.

Once you have successfully logged in you will come to this page .

Click on the c-panel link found in the upper right hand side.

As shown in the picture on the right.

You will be redirected to your Main C-Panel control center.

Now once you are in your C-Panel control center scroll down to the 5th tab which is labeled Files.

As shown in the picture on the right.

Click on File Manager.

A pop up window will come up and you will have to click on either Home Directory radio button or the Document Root for: radio button.

In the drop down window you chose your domain and make sure that the Show hidden files is checked.

And then click on the Go Button.

After you click on the Go button you will be taken to a screen with your directories which are just folders.

Look for the public_html file and double click it using your left mouse button.

This will open your public directory

Once you are in your Public Directory you will see folders and files.

Folders have the information for your files or webpage's to function.

Files are simply webpage's that the public or your visitors to your site can view.

Now scroll down and find public_html.

Indicated by the red arrow and double click on the icon indicated by the blue arrow.

Note: Remember double click it using your left mouse button

Now scroll down and find the file or webpage that you want to edit.

For this example I am using index_html - This is your home page.

Left click the icon in the left column once.

Note: The column indicated by the blue arrow above.

This will highlight that file in blue.

Once you have the file that you want to edit highlighted ~ scroll up to the top of the page and look for the HTML Editor.

Left click on the HTML Editor

A popup window will load.

This will tell you what page you are editing indicated by the blue arrows below.

Click on the edit button indicated by the red arrow above and the HTML Editor will launch.

You are now editing that page and at the top of the page you will find a tool bar to help you in editing your webpage.

Go ahead and play around with the editor and your webpage.

Have fun and try different things on the tool bar and if you don't like the way they turn out simply click on the red X indicated by the blue arrow and you close the editor and nothing will change on the page.

While editing the page you can undo your editing by clicking on the left and right arrows found in the middle of the tool bar.

Note:

Once you have the page edited to the way that you want then click on the save button indicated by the red arrow.
